The Great Battery Build Off

Scott Bang, Grinergy CEO & Allan Richardson, Snapfast Founder, signing the MoU on the 13th December 2023 in Gateshead, UK.

Building on a successful year of collaboration, the two companies have signed an agreement towards future development of advanced battery technology, road mapping a vision for a collaborative future that could see eventual Grinergy production in the UK.

Snapfast is a longstanding developer & supplier of sustainable lighting solutions, who have recently spearheaded a range of innovative, off-grid lighting products. Established in 1985, Snapfast has ushered the way forward in cutting-edge, sustainable design in lighting via strong relationships with its supply chain.

Grinergy, based in South Korea, specialises in the development of advanced battery technology. Their Potere battery is an industry-leading, state-of-the-art product that has numerous benefits over traditional battery sources in terms of safety, performance, and range of application.

Grinergy CEO, Scott Bang, and International Business Development Manager BJ Kim visited the UK in December 2023. Where Snapfast alongside its partners, presented a strategy on how to bring Grinergy to the UK market, with an ultimate goal of dedicated Grinergy manufacturing facilities in the UK.

 The Roadmap highlighted the following milestones:

-       A better understanding of next-generation battery technology in the UK.

-       Establishing assembly facilities within Snapfast for off-grid lighting.

 -       Snapfast moving to Net Zero products & services, only supplying & specifying products with off-grid potential.

 -       Developing battery solutions for other industry sectors via Snapfast supply chain and industry partners.

 -       Establishing joint venture production with a UK battery manufacturer to cater to increasing demand.

 -       Proving technology in the UK & European market for residential & commercial energy storage.

 -       Diesel generator dependency replaced by a proven, 100% reliable source.

 -       Legislative change to battery safety standards.

 -       Dedicated Snapfast and Grinergy factory producing Potere cells within the UK, supplying to the UK and Europe.

 -       Development & collaboration for next the generation of Potere batteries for future business opportunity & advancement.

 -       Employment opportunities in a growing, sustainable industry sector.

 -       Extended Supply chain opportunities, bringing more sustained, specialised employment.

 -       Potential expansion of factories in specific areas to boost local economies & carbon footprint (delivery distance).

Snapfast have also secured a potential partnership agreement with a UK manufacturer to produce Grinergy products for residential and commercial energy storage. Already kickstarting the fifth stage of the roadmap, which was only set out a month prior.
