Lighting Upgrade for one of Newcastle’s most historic bridges

Another restoration project working alongside Enerveo. This time on the Armstrong Bridge in Jesmond, Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Constructed in 1878, the bridge was given to the people of Newcastle along with the Dene below for use as public space. Over the years the bridge has become pedestrianised and is home to a popular weekend craft market.

Due to its historic stature and cultural significance, the lighting in situ was to remain untouched and simply tightened and spruced where needed. Apart from the inside, where Vision Illumination Ltd. Kombina light engines replaced old worn-out sodium-based gear trays. In keeping with the traditional feel and the presence of various wildlife in the Dene below, Snapfast specified a 2200K Light source to minimise blue light impact. The arrays also have pre-set dimming available via Philips Xitanium drivers to further reduce light impact during times of low footfall.

More pictures to follow when the project is completed.
